We're focused on reducing Nightide's environmental footprint through practical, high-impact changes to how the festival is planned, delivered and resourced.

Paperless check-in

Nightide uses the Humanitix ticketing platform for a fully paperless check-in — QR scanning at entry, with tickets stored digitally via Apple Wallet, cutting out printed tickets entirely.

Getting here without the car

Nightide encourages visitors to leave the car behind where they can — use options such as Searoad Ferries, the Bellarine Railway steam train, and shuttle buses to help spread arrivals across two peninsulas rather than everyone driving in. We also encourage carpooling for those driving in, to help ease traffic and parking pressure on the day.

Waste & single-use materials

  • Separated waste bins expanded across public areas
  • Moved to reusable wine glasses, and switched all food and beverage packaging to certified bio cups, bio packaging, bamboo cutlery and paper straws
  • Single-use materials policy enforced across all external suppliers and food trucks
  • Sculpture installation built entirely from reclaimed timber and scrap metal, avoiding the need for new materials
  • Aluminium can recycling bins added in the VIP lounge, supporting Cottage by the Sea

What this means

These changes have significantly cut the amount of single-use plastic used across the festival's beverage and food service. We're also working toward formally tracking waste and diversion rates with our waste contractor in future seasons, so we can measure and report on our progress more precisely.

Give back

Our VIP lounge recycling bins support Cottage by the Sea, a local charity that recycles cans.
